Nestled in quaint Country Village in Bothell, Washington, Keepsake Cottage Fabrics is a quilt shop for every kind of quilter. Fabrics vary from reproduction, thirties, patriotic, novelty, florals, wools and flannels to batiks, Asians, and native American. Backgrounds, white-on-whites, and an extensive "color wall" round out the shop's fabric selection.
The shop offers most Moda collections, including their charm packs, jelly rolls, layer cakes, and kits. In early 2008, the shop's Lecien collection from Japan tripled in size. Other fabric collections include Timeless Treasures, Michael Miller, Free Spirit, Windham, Benartex, RJR, Clothworks, In the Beginning, Northcott, and more.
The shop carries the most current notions available and offers a wide variety of the latest patterns and books. Classes include several for the beginner quilter, appliqué, and year-long block of the month clubs. In the fall, the shop sponsors a Quilt Pink event, inviting customers to join in; proceeds from the event benefit the Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
The staff at Keepsake Cottage Fabrics includes Julie Stewart, the owner, and 10 part-time employees. All are experienced quilters who are always ready to help and offer opinions. For many customers, and the staff as well, the shop is a home away from home: a friendly, warm place to spend part of any day.
Keepsake Cottage Fabrics has been a part of Country Village since 1985, when it was first opened by Delberta Murray. A few years later, in 1989, Julie Stewart joined Delberta as a partner and they doubled the floor space of the shop.
Then, in 2005, Delberta retired and just eight months later, Julie moved the shop across the parking lot, into its current location in the big red barn. In just a few years time, the shop's inventory doubled in size to nearly 5,000 bolts of fabric, becoming one of the largest quilt shops around offering the latest in fabrics and notions.
We hope you'll visit soon!
