Advanced Hand Embroidery with Kay Harris

Redwork birds flutter and sing on this 76" square quilt, Flight of Fancy. Made up of 12 embroidered blocks and 13 simple pieced blocks, Meg Hawkey of Crabapple Hill Studios has created another wonderful quilt pattern which we are sharing as a block of the month in 2010 and offering as a class. The fabrics are from the Rouenneries collection by French General for Moda. The selection of fabrics includes a variety of prints and textures in soft, faded reds and soothing creams, ticking stripes, and Provencial checks... combined together to form the perfect "frame" for the embroidered birds that are the highlight of the quilt. The $30 class fee each month includes the fabric, pattern, and instruction to complete that month's redwork block. On the 12th month, you will receive the fabric, pattern, and instruction for the 12th redwork block plus fabric for the pieced blocks, borders,and binding. Class size is limited. Class will meet on the third Monday of each month, beginning February 15, from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm.
